A fingerprint is never photographed or stored as a picture. The scanner converts the finger into a mathematical template, and it is the template — not an image — that Kantini works with. A template cannot be turned back into a fingerprint, and it opens nothing outside Kantini.
The scanner produces an ANSI 378 template. No photograph of a fingerprint is created at any point, so none can be leaked or reused elsewhere.
The template is held on our servers and sent to the school terminal so a payment can be verified. The comparison itself runs on the terminal, not in the cloud.
Ask us to delete a template and we will, and the wallet keeps working. We remove it automatically when a student leaves the school.
